here’s my dessert tonight! some organic, fair trade, vegan hot chocolate with no refined sugar, dairy, gluten, or GMO. HOLLA. going to be DELICIOUS. Definitely going to make it with coconut milk…mmmmm :).
Shout out to AddictedToVeggies.com - I’ve been loving your recipes! I’ve really been exploring raw foods and it’s been really fun creating these “staple foods” and honestly, i’ve really enjoyed NOT cooking (using the stove, microwave, etc)!
Give raw foods cooking a try! It’s pretty fun and very refreshing!
we only have two weeks to reach our goal, so if you’re into this, please spread the word. we appreciate it so much!
check out our stupid faces!
no but seriously, we started a kickstarter project so that we can print issues of the magazine we put together. if you’re interested in being a part of that (meaning, you can buy an issue and flip through it in real life!) go check it out!
WE WANT TO DO SOMETHING SPECIAL FOR OUR HIPSTERFOOD FOLLOWERS!
we need to raise at least $1000 over the next two weeks, it’s our one year blog anniversary, and we’re hitting our 20,000 follower mark!! so to celebrate, and spread the word of the project, we’re going to do a giveaway! if we reach our goal, we’ll be giving away a $150 “inaugural issue” package - including:
one FULL YEAR subscription to our magazine.
a pack of blank recipe cards, block printed by us personally.
a “how to store foods” poster, a “how to cook grains” poster, and a “how to cook legumes” poster, all designed and screenprinted by us. (we use these cheat sheets on a daily basis in our kitchen!)
a mention on the chickpea website, a post about you here, and a mention in our next issue.
you can enter one of two ways:
reblog this post! (only one reblog will count, please don’t alter it too much.)
retweet this tweet! (once you tweet it, please link it to us in the comments of this post, or it’ll get lost in the sea of twitter.)
if we reach our funding goal, one winner will be chosen at random on october 14th. thanks so much for your support, not just of our magazine, but of hipsterfood as well.
(almost) VEGAN MAC AND CHEESE: between 400 and 500 calories!
okay, so it’s not quite vegan because I used regular butter instead of vegan butter. But seriously, this is AMAZING and a great vegetarian dish! I’ll never turn back now that I’ve tried nutritional yeast! SO TASTY! Please enjoy :)
Ingredients: Brown Rice Pasta almond milk (ORIGINAL, NOT VANILLA!) butter nutritional yeast garlic salt pepper quaker oats, ground finely (basically, oat flour - because I didn’t have regular flour)
Directions: 1. boil water and add brown rice pasta. cook until tender 2. in a saucepan, melt butter and then stir in the oat flour. constantly stir 3. while stirring, add almond milk. 4. bring to a boil, then add nutritional yeast. 5. remove from heat once nutritional yeast is absorbed. add garlic salt and pepper to taste. 6. pour over strained pasta and ENJOY!
